Job Description: Mechanical / Electrical Assembler


• Must be able to assemble complex electromechanical equipment quickly and accurately to engineering specifications using standard and specialized tools.

• Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications is required.

• (Mechanical) Must be able to build and verify complex machines/subassemblies that have close-tolerance components and help identify and correct problems that may arise.

• (Electrical) Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters. Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections. Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device. Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, according to layout, using soldering gun and hand-tools. Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, switches, and solenoids, and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand-tools. Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments.

• Employee is required to have position-specific personal hand tools and/or test equipment. Specialized tooling will be provided by the company.

• Employee must follow company safety rules and be actively engaged in creating a safer work environment at all times.

• Employee must follow established operational procedures including labor reporting, process documentation, record keeping and other defined reporting requirements.

• Basic knowledge of PC applications is required.

• Basic shop math skills are required.

• HS degree or GED required; 2 year technical or vocational degree preferred.

• 3+ years of manufacturing experience is preferred.

• Some heavy lifting is required, up to 50 pounds.

• Some travel may be required.

• Employees are required to work scheduled overtime.

• This is an aggressive and fast paced work environment. Commitment to meeting schedules, increasing efficiency and improving quality is required.
