We're searching for a Fiscal Technician/Assistant to join the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. This position supports student governance operations for the Undergraduate Student Senate. It provides financial support to the Appropriations Committee (a group of students responsible for allocating the student activity fee to undergraduate student organizations). Here's what you need to know about the role:

1) You'll join the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team: a department centered on uplifting the student experience by cultivating affirming environments, promoting holistic well-being, and providing exceptional services, programs, and facilities.

2) You'll report to the Deputy Director for Strategic Operations, Undergraduate Student Senate, a Regular twelve-month, 100% Staff appointment.

3) You'll be responsible for administrative and fiscal activities that may include but are not limited to processing payments and reimbursements, bookkeeping, note taking, responding to high levels of emails, fielding questions from students in person and virtually, budgeting, and record tracking, records retention management, and developing documentation on internal processes for the Undergraduate Student Senate.

4) You'll work closely with students and student governance while providing a high level of customer service.

5) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

6) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $38,000-42,000 along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

* Associate degree in a related field or equivalent related experience.
* Working knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger, and generally accepted accounting principles.
* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
* Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously with diverse constituents.
* Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, confidential information and documents.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment with limited supervision.
* Ability to problem solve and find viable solutions.
* Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping and customer service.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a related field.
* Knowledge of university/state policies and procedures.
* Familiarity with Banner Finance, HokieMart, Chrome River, and/or similar software programs.
* Experience working with students and student organizations in a university setting.
