We're currently searching for a Crisis Counselor to join The Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center (CCC) team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. As we continue to grow and develop a diverse and vibrant group of professionals to serve our student body of 36,000 and in the spirit of Ut Prosim (that I may serve) and InclusiveVT, the Center is committed to a model of diversity, inclusion, and equity in all aspects of its services. The multidisciplinary staff of counselors, social workers, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and marriage and family therapists work to deliver services that maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical care. The International Association of Counseling Services accredits the Cook Counseling Center. The American Psychological Association accredits Cook Counselling's internship program.

Here's what you need to know about the role:

1) You'll be joining the Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center: a department committed to a spirit of excellence in providing timely and relevant university mental health services.

2) You'll report to the Director of Hokie Wellness. This position is a Regular, Calendar Year, 100% Administrative Professional appointment.

3) There is no "on-call" component to this position. Hours will be 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday.

4) You'll be primarily responsible for providing individual services to students including initial assessment, diagnosis, and determination of treatment needs. In addition, you will conduct crisis interventions as needed; follow-up and track referrals for students with identified high-risk needs; maintain full and accurate case notes for clients; attend court hearings for involuntarily hospitalized students; conduct mandatory assessments and maintain private practitioner databases. Occasional travel may be necessary to attend seminars, continuing education, and professional development opportunities.

5) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

6) You'll be offered a salary range from $58,000 - $63,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

* Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
* Experience in crisis intervention/emergency evaluation.
* Licensed as a mental health professional or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia (must be licensed within two years of hire).

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in a college counseling center.
