The Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education is seeking an assistant professor in program development and evaluation, with an emphasis in Extension applications. This is a nine-month, tenure track position with a 10% teaching, 50% Extension, and a 40% research appointment. In addition to contributing to the development of Extension program evaluation in Virginia, this scholar will be expected to conduct and report research in program development and evaluation. Position Responsibilities: Offer initiatives on program development, with an emphasis on program evaluation, for Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) state and county-based faculty. Develop educational resources and professional development training opportunities on Extension program development and evaluation. Work with VCE administration to identify and provide technical assistance with critical program development and evaluation issues. Contribute to external boards, professional organizations, and committees as appropriate to enhance networking and partnerships related to Extension programming and evaluation. Teach graduate and undergraduate courses on program evaluation and Extension foundations. Generate external funding to support program development and evaluation, conducting and reporting relevant research efforts that lead to unique discovery. International engagement and recognition are encouraged and expected as your career advances. The position requires occasional travel to attend conferences and meetings.

Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate of philosophy (PhD) in a field related to the position; Ability to direct high-quality program evaluation efforts, including related research that builds upon program development and evaluation concepts and theories; Ability to work with constituents across Virginia in planning and conducting Extension programs with demonstrated impact; Commitment and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the campus community; Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as expertise in utilizing technology in communication.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Cooperative Extension; Demonstrated skill in program development and evaluation; Record of successful external funding; Record of peer-reviewed publications.
