Job Description

The Assistant Director of Finance for Facilities Operations will be responsible for:
* Developing end user training materials and writing and maintaining system documentation including process flow analysis and descriptions.
* Conducting stakeholder meetings to include standing or ad hoc teams assigned to implement new solutions, determining the effectiveness of current functionality, and managing the change control process during the development and implementation of solutions
* Monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness while assuring policies and procedures are interpreted to facilitate optimum service delivery and program.
* Assisting developing, implementing, and maintaining tools to extract and examine data from multiple sources.
* Analyzing and manipulating data for presentations and reporting.

Required Qualifications

* Advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Building Construction or related field; or a Bachelor's degree in a related field and experience in managing financial and business support functions that equates to an advanced degree.
* Experience with finances and systems in a higher educational environment.
* Thorough working knowledge of procurement and business principles with demonstrated ability to research, perform complex calculations, analyze accounts, and create reports.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with experience utilizing computer applications for data analysis and report development.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite within Windows operating system environments.
* Evidence of strong communication skills.
* Must be able to work both collaboratively and independently without constant supervision.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Must have a high level of independent judgment, initiative, discretion, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Banner HR, Banner Finance, Hokieserv, Power BI, and HokieMart Systems
* MBA or Master's Degree, or equivalent fiscal management experience.
* Advanced Excel skills including pivot table development and advanced lookups

Starting salary at $80,000; Commensurate with experience

Additional Information

* Work is performed primarily in an office or conference room/classroom setting.
* Ability to safely move and handle up to 30 pounds, work for long periods of time sitting, and performing repetitive movement through use of keyboarding.
* May travel to various Virginia Tech sites to setup and conduct training or provide consultation on system use.
* Must have a criminal background check.
* Must have an acceptable and safe driving record.
* Must have a driver's license check.
* May be requested to work outside of normal business hours to meet system and client need

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
