Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, the university's VPFCFO has fiduciary responsibility for university funds, business processes, and serves as the principal financial officer for the university. The VPFCFO is a key member of the President's Council and is directly responsible for the oversight and management of the following areas within the university: Budget and Financial Planning, Capital Budgeting and Financing, Financial Management, University Controller, University Bursar, Finance Information Technology, Risk Management and Insurance, Procurement and Surplus Property, and the University Treasurer.

The VPFCFO serves as an institutional catalyst, stimulating sound financial management practices across the organization that support the achievement of the strategic and financial objectives of the university. The Vice President provides leadership and oversight to strategic and financial planning, ensures overall management and integrity of the university's internal and external budgets, provides guidance for university business and financial initiatives, represents the university in its relationships with its related corporations, and is engaged in the processes of obtaining new resources and allocating resources such that goals and objectives are accomplished consistent with the university mission.

Required Qualifications

* Extensive experience as a senior leader of a large multifunctional business operation, demonstrating an ability to manage resources skillfully and proactively.
* Significant experience in fiscal management with direct responsibility in areas of fiscal analysis, forecasting, borrowing, accounting, and financial reporting.
* Experience successfully navigating change, building, and leading teams in a complex organization.
* Advanced verbal and written communication skills and experience presenting to governance boards and committees.
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
* Demonstrated experience designing and implementing workflows to meet customer needs while maintaining appropriate compliance and internal controls.
* Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
* Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projects.
* Demonstrated expertise in the development of comprehensive, integrated financial budgeting and reporting systems.
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other business discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications

* Demonstrated financial leadership in large public research university.
* Experience with state funding principles and models.
* An MBA or equivalent advanced degree and/or registered CPA.
* Experience managing enterprise resource planning system enhancements and implementations.
