The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech has an open 12-month, 2-year, Clinical instructor position in anatomic pathology and disease investigation. This position involves providing diagnostic necropsy and biopsy services in the Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services, teaching in the clinical curriculum (necropsy), and developing an epidemiology/disease investigation program. The department and college have a strong, vibrant, nationally and internationally recognized pathology service and expertise in epidemiology in the Population Health Sciences (PHS) department. Clinical diagnostic pathology duties include sharing necropsy and biopsy duties with six board-certified anatomic pathologists. In addition, the candidate will be expected to develop a disease investigation program for ViTALS using advanced data analytics techniques and software and provide epidemiological support to the lab. The instructional responsibilities include teaching necropsy and sample collection techniques to students on the clinical rotation. Opportunities also exist to train pathology residents. Opportunities exist to collaborate with epidemiologists in PHS, and experts in zoonotic diseases, natural and experimental animal models of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, vaccine development, and mechanisms of infectious disease resistance or susceptibility. Required Qualifications

- DVM or equivalent, diplomate of ACVP - Anatomic Pathology (or ACVP board eligible) and an advanced degree in public health or disease investigation.
- Demonstrated experience in a veterinary diagnostic lab.
- Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services is an AAVLD accredited lab and a member of USDA NAHLN and FDA Vet-LIRN; therefore, experience with ISO 17025 standards.

Preferred Qualifications

- ACVP board certification, Masters of Public Health, PhD in virology or microbiology, and experience with SAS or similar data analytics software.
- The candidate will join a progressive department and college with a strong research faculty therefore interest and experience in research.
