Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic professional to develop, deliver, and expand a robust, revenue-generating portfolio of relevant, innovative, and financially self-sustaining programs. The program portfolio manager will be independently responsible for planning, budgeting, and management of non-credit bootcamps, short courses, certificate programs, corporate-sponsored technical assistance programs, and graduate credit courses delivered to adult learners through various modalities. In addition to working with Virginia Tech faculty and staff, the program portfolio manager will represent CPE and the university to external stakeholders, including corporate and public sector organizations, with the goal of building strong relationships and connections that lead to the development of programs to meet the workforce training, professional development, and lifelong learning needs of individuals and organizations in Virginia and beyond. CPE's program portfolio manager will identify viable program opportunities, plan, and implement, keeping programs within scope, adhering to established timelines and on-site/day-of duties. The program portfolio manager will have financial responsibility and accountability for each program and will be expected to meet revenue targets. This position will include assessment of program needs and marketing research, proposal writing, business development, and contract negotiation. The successful candidate must be adaptable, with a strong customer service ethos, and the ability to effectively contribute to a dynamic work environment that produces positive energy, creativity, teamwork, diversity, and mutual respect. Occasional travel may be required to provide local and out-of-town program support. Occasional overnight, weekend, early morning, and late evening work may be required. This position will be based in Blacksburg and will travel occasionally to the Virginia Tech Research Center, Arlington and other locations around the state based on program needs.

Required Qualifications

*Bachelor's degree in relevant field

*Demonstrated experience in planning, development, implementation, and administration of continuing education and professional development programs in a higher education setting

*Proven experience advancing projects from inception to completion

*Experience serving adult learners and non-traditional students through revenue-generating programs

*Budget development and management experience, with history of achieving financial objectives

*Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

*Proven ability to establish and maintain good rapport with internal and external clients

*Demonstrated aptitude for technology with strong computer competency skills and high proficiency in office/collaboration tools and applications (Microsoft Office, MS Teams, Zoom)

*Ability to handle numerous projects and details simultaneously and accurately while prioritizing by need and timeline

*Ability to function effectively under pressure and handle unanticipated changes in an effective and professional manner

Preferred Qualifications

*Master's degree in a relevant field

*Experience working in a large, public university setting

*Experience in both credit and non-credit program development, implementation and management

*Track record of managing and developing marketing plans

*Preference for designation of project management professional (PMP), certified program planner (CPP) or certified meeting planner (CMP)
