LINK, Center for Advancing Partnerships, is seeking an Associate Director of Foundation Relations to advance the goals of Virginia Tech. LINK, a jointly-funded center between Advancement and the Office of Research and Innovation, supports university-wide strategic initiatives, program partnerships, and the university's $650+ million research enterprise. The Associate Director of Foundation Relations, reporting to the Director of Foundation Relations, will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding foundations for support of academic programs and faculty research. Specific priorities will be assigned by the Director of Foundation Relations with the Associate Director expected to develop long-term foundation partnerships while expanding existing relationships. Targeted fundraising objectives will align with Virginia Tech's strategic goals, distinct areas of excellence and geographic diversity.||The Associate Director will take a proactive approach to new prospect identification so as to secure new channels of philanthropic support for the university. A willingness to travel represents a prerequisite with this position designed to open / expand the university's foundation philanthropic reach. The Associate Director will possess sound proposal writing and communications skills and will be inherently collaborative.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and experience or Masters' degree.||Understanding of the nature of foundation philanthropy as it relates to higher education.||Demonstrated ability to communicate the critical role of foundation support in ensuring the success of the research, teaching and outreach mission of Virginia Tech to diverse groups of constituents.||Ability to determine how best to develop and maintain effective relationships with foundation partners and determine when and how a foundation can be successfully solicited for a gift.||Demonstrated ability to relate well to and understand the needs and interests of foundations in order to develop relationships between them and Virginia Tech.||Ability to promote Virginia Tech's fundraising and strategic priorities by developing excellent working relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, advancement division teams, and senior foundation executives. ||Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google, large database and research applications. ||Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate the importance of higher education and understand and articulate the critical role and priorities of the university and the development program.||The successful candidate will be self-motivated and will embrace the concept and attitude of teamwork in a complex organization. |

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to candidates who demonstrate experience in higher education fundraising, university administration, or other related experience in complex organizations. Preference given to candidates with proven success in building productive, long-term relationships with senior administrators, key business leaders, faculty, staff, institutional boards, volunteers, and/or donors.
