Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a mid-level Transportation Engineer to join our growing transportation design group in the Roanoke, Virginia office. Offering flexible work hours and the ability for part-time telework, this is an excellent career advancement opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to work with a full-service design team to prepare plans for some of the most rewarding and challenging projects in Virginia. Typical projects involve state, local, and federal agency clients in the transportation market. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in project development, mentoring of younger staff, and pursuits of new and exciting projects. The ideal candidate will have 3 - 8 years of experience working in the transportation design field.

Responsibilities
    Work as part of a team to prepare transportation improvement plans, and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project engineers.
  • Utilize MicroStation to prepare transportation engineering designs including horizontal alignments, vertical profiles, roadway drainage designs, and completion of right-of-way acquisition and construction plans for both design-bid-build and design-build project delivery.
  • Provide mentorship and support for entry-level staff, including reviewing work for accuracy and providing guidance on the latest engineering software programs.

Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is required. PE preferred.
  • 3 - 8 years of experience
  • Energetic and enthusiastic individual interested in taking on increased responsibility as experience grows
  • Proficiency using MicroStation is required
  • Proficiency using Geopak and OpenRoads are desired
  • Knowledge of VDOT standards and specifications is desired
  • Proficiency in MS Office software
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Desire to work in a team environment
