Role Summary

The Driver Trainer reports to the General Manager and is directly responsible for conducting training for new drivers and ensuring training is completed according to PreFlight Airport Parking standards; provides refresher training for existing drivers; coordinates completion of annual compliance training and identifies training needs for employees.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensures that drivers carry out their duties in the most safe and efficient manner possible.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (Department of Transportation (DOT)) as required ensuring the safety of all vehicles and staff.
  • Onboarding and training of new drivers and ensures all training requirements have been met prior to transporting passengers.
  • Completes refresher trainings with existing drivers.
  • Monitor shuttle bus software and inform General Manager and/or Shift Manager of any driver related performance issues.
  • Assists General/Shift Manager in the evaluation of employee performance.
  • Provides training and support to Cashiers, Dispatchers and Porters as needed and may fill in as needed in those roles.
  • Sets standards for staff by modeling company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates employee requests to General Manager.
  • Monitors property for any safety and security concerns.
  • Remain vigilant for anything unusual or potentially threatening.
  • Recognize potentially dangerous situations and respond in the safest and most effective manner.
  • Remain available to staff during shift for reports of suspicious activity, security threats and safety concerns and provides assistance and instruction. Report all incidents to General Manager and Environmental, Health and Safety/RISK Manager.
  • Participate in all safety and security trainings within the market.
  • Assist in the Incident Reporting process.
  • Courteous interaction with our customers.
  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Computer literate; proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and have excellent organizational and time management skills.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must submit your application for employment through to be considered for this position.
  • You must be 21 years or older.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in US.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Some state and/or airport regulations require that a Driver have a valid Chauffer's license or a valid Driver's License from the state in which he or she works.
  • Must be willing to submit to a drug test, background investigation and MVR/Driving Record check as part of the selection process.
  • You must be willing to take a physical as part of the selection process as required by airport or state regulations.
  • Must be willing to work at an off-airport parking facility in Chelsea, MA.
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors and will be exposed to weather elements in driving and performing Trainer duties.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must possess hearing and vision faculties sufficient to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to walk up and down steps, bend, stoop, turn, and pivot in order to get in and out of the shuttle bus.
  • Ability to grasp, push, scoop, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to maintain flexibility in work schedule in order to meet operational needs. This may require working days, evenings and/or the overnight shift.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience driving commercial vehicles (shuttle bus, large truck, tractor).
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle operating mechanics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment depending upon customer volume, shift, season, etc.
  • Positive and professional attitude with strong communication skills in order to facilitate interactions with co-workers, superiors, and customers.
  • Excellent dependability and time management skills.
  • Strong customer focus and team-orientation.

Desired Characteristics

  • At least 1-2 years of experience supervising, coaching, or training.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills: conveys professionalism and competence effectively to superiors, staff and customers.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills to succeed in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong safety knowledge and awareness; always using good judgment.
