Position Description

The Receiving & Stores Supervisor has full responsibility for material storage and organization from material receipt until delivery to the production departments. Oversight includes materials stored at the primary manufacturing site, as well as materials at multiple off-site warehouses. The Receiving Supervisor will have daily oversight of all material flows into and through the manufacturing site, ensuring accurate and timely processing of receivers is completed. Using daily management and lean manufacturing techniques, the receiving supervisor will drive improvement in the plant's material storage and retrieval methods. On a daily basis, the candidate will interface with production departments to ensure their material supply is robust, organized and available on time.

The Receiving and Store Supervisor will supervise 5 total employees in the Warehouse and Receiving departments. This position is onsite 5 days per week at out plant in Buena Vista, Virginia and will operate under normal business hours, usually between 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained, and ensure direct reports comply with all safety policies
  • Understand the hourly employee handbook and ensure daily compliance.
  • Daily oversight of receiving process, organizing and delegating work to team of hourly indirect employees
  • Daily management of receiving department KPIs
  • Application of 80-20 principles and lean manufacturing concepts (5S, Kaizen, Kata, etc...) to drive continuous improvement of receiving and stores processes
  • Interface with production leadership teams to address material needs/concerns
  • Manage inventory at offsite warehouse(s)
  • Manage all inventory (location) until consumed by value streams. Measure and improve internal customer satisfaction
  • Resolve receiving & invoice discrepancies
  • Point of contact for planner/buyers related to storing/locating purchased parts during cycle counting process
Required Education & Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred or equivalent experience
  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or shipping and receiving position is required
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing setting
  • Computer skills and experience working with an ERP system, preferably SAP
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
  • Forklift certification would be beneficial, however we will certify if needed
  • Prior Hazmat and First Aid experience would be preferred, however we will train
